there are records that define a genre, and then there is "surrealistic pillow". this is the album that introduced the world to the "san francisco sound". grace slick with her powerful vocals and anthems like "white rabbit" or "somebody to love" are absolute rock canon. this music smells like the summer of love, freedom, and experiment.

fun fact for the insightful: listed on the cover as "musical and spiritual adviser" is none other than jerry garcia of the grateful dead. it shows just how tight that scene was.

here we have a solid, european release from 2017. it's heavy, 180-gram wax, pressed at the dutch plant record industry (one of the best in europe). the sound is classic living stereo, so the soundstage and instrument separation are exactly as they were in the 60s.
